The proposal box often outlives the proposal. This one is cut from solid black walnut, lined in velvet, and engraved with whatever you want on the lid — so the thing that held the ring becomes the thing that sits on the dresser for the next fifty years.

At 1.5 in (38 mm) deep it lies flat in a jacket's inner breast pocket rather than standing proud of it.
Three things that actually matter on the day
It won't give you away. 2.2 × 2.2 × 1.5 inches (56 × 56 × 38 mm), 1.6 oz (45 g) — about the weight of a AA battery. It sits flat and quiet in a jacket or coat pocket. Honest note: in tight front jeans pockets, any wooden box will show. A jacket, a bag, or a friend's pocket solves it.

The lid does what you need, both ways. A magnetic flip-top: closed, the magnet holds it shut so it won't spring open in a pocket. Open, it flips past vertical with one hand and stays there on its own — so the box isn't trying to snap shut on the ring while you're mid-sentence.
Free engraving, up to 30 characters
A name. A date. Three words only she'll understand. Type it into the Free Engraving field above — or leave it blank and simply reply to your order confirmation email.
Either way, we email you before anything is cut. You'll get layout options to choose from, and nothing is engraved until you've approved one. That is also your chance to check the spelling — names are the easiest thing in the world to get wrong, and wood does not have an undo.
Same price with or without engraving. Engraved pieces are made to order, so they need 1–2 business days more and can't be returned unless they arrive damaged.

A single velvet slot for one ring, or a double slot for a pair of wedding bands. Four velvet colors: black, white, wine red, coffee. Same price for every combination.

How to check your ring will fit
Stand the ring on a flat surface and measure from the bottom of the band to the highest point of the stone. If that measurement is under 1.2 inches (30 mm), it clears the lid.

- Tracked on every order, dispatched from our fulfillment partner in China.
- Nothing here is a pre-order. Typically delivered in 6–12 business days — 1–3 business days to pack and dispatch, plus 5–8 business days of tracked transit. Engraved pieces are personalized after you order, so dispatch can take up to 4 business days while we confirm your layout with you.
- Duties are prepaid. Nothing extra is collected on delivery.
